Silesian Activist Network
Initial recognition carried out by activists operating in several Silesian cities (Cieszyn, Katowice, Częstochowa, Bielsko-Biala, Gliwice, Pszczyna, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Bielsko-Biała) regarding the needs related to everyday work of socially engaged people – as volunteers, employees or social activists operating to improve the living conditions in the city – indicated common areas that require better preparation of social workers to carry out tasks to the benefit of residents.
Identified areas include, among others:
1. cooperation in the network and creation of common resources to develop own organizations and support other, therefore more effective activities from and for the benefit of local communities
2. Ways of communicating with the environment that activists could use (including local media)
3. Solving local conflicts and mediations.
The Silesian Activist Network is a response to the need to continue the conversation about creating a platform enabling reflection on the tools, practices and goals of work with the local community and raising the work standards of people associated with various non-governmental organizations
